Research Interests: Ground improvement techniques, Optimum design of structures, Earth reinforcement and stability of slopes.
Achievements: He has published more than 25 technical papers in reputed international journals and conferences. He is the recipient of prestigious Prof. Leonards award for the best doctoral thesis submitted to Indian Univ./Inst. in the year 1995. He has guided more than ten M.Tech students and one PhD student. He was bestowed incentive award for faculty research and scientific publication, instituted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education during the year 2002-03.

Dr. Sabhahit obtained his B.E. degree in Civil Engineering from National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysore in 1985; M Tech (1988) and Ph.D. (1994) in Geotechnical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur. Dr. Sabhahit joined Manipal Institute to Technology in the year 1988 as a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, after completion of his M Tech degree. He has over 27 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy and administration.

He has successfully completed his tenure as Director Admissions, Manipal Academy of Higher Education. During his tenure as Director Admissions, he has immensely contributed in strengthening the admission process. He has also coordinated B.Tech online common counseling for Manipal Group of Institutions. Dr. Sabhahit was the Joint Director of MIT, Manipal for a period of one year from May 2008 to May 2009. Prior to that, he was the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, MIT Manipal for a period of four years from April 2004 to April 2008. His other notable contributions are curriculum development for UG and PG programs, starting M.Tech program in Civil Engineering, implementation of ISO certification and NBA accreditation for UG and PG programs.
